I have had the pleasure over the past few weeks of working alongside Julie developing a bespoke rug for her final year exhibition. We both met down at the workshop last week where Julie watched her design come to life.

The process took over three days, on arrival Julie watched Ian draw her design onto canvas, and tufting took around two days to complete. Julie was delighted with the end result and we wish her the very best of luck with her final show!

Her design has proven popular and we are currently working on some alternative colourways. I will keep you posted!

Managed to grab a couple of Martins precious hours to take some piccies of Garys bespoke oval rug. Gary was a real pleasure to work with, he knew pretty much what he wanted. The room is a north facing, so quite dark, with a lovely dark walnut floor, light coloured soft furnishings and a walnut table and console created by Gary. The brief was to create a beautiful rug to give the room a lift with colour in keeping with the subtleties of the room. The rug fulfilled this requirement with a lovely centrepiece in candy pink blending gradually into lighter pinks, mauves grey and then into neutrals. It is wonderful being able to work with so many colours per needle to create such a subtle effect, definately a real pro when it comes to tufting!

At last we finally placed Alisons bespoke floral rug of Jeffreys interiors last tuesday, I had planned on getting some good shots of it being in situ, but much to our horror there was a plug unit right in the middle of it, Not too worry Graeme came to the rescue with his scissors and several years of experience of course and had it all looking lovely. The rug was designed around a rather lovely faric design used in the blinds and chairs of a mutifunctional study, very plush. Here’s a photo of the finished rug….

We’ve been designing bespoke rugs since 2004 and have to this day
created all of our rugs using the hand-tufting technique. We’ve had a
long and prosperous relationship with our Scottish tufters and will
continue to work with them as often as we can. However, we’ve decided to
introduce a hand-knotting quality to our range. Specifically a 50/50
yarn mix of Tibetan wool and silk. If you’ve ever seen and experienced
the quality of a wool/silk knotted rug you’ll understand why I get
really excited about the product. It takes our bespoke rugs to a new
level of luxury.
